AJOB 60 - A Better Monster

Posted on September 4, 2011

An abstract thought I had...

I'd design a better monster. One that didn't feel guilt. Or maybe just a little. The monster would have super powers and be able to fly. The monster would be invincible. I'd make it able to create life. I'd make it be able to bend space and time. I'd craft the monster so carefully. I'd incorporate all the rainbow of emotions, all except guilt. Do whatever you want and don't worry about the rest. Okay maybe a little guilt.

It'd have anti-gravity technology and be able to teleport anywhere anytime. It'd be able to travel backwards and forwards in time. It'd be able to understand all information and decipher all languages and codes. I'd make it the great destroyer and great creator all at once. I'd give it the option of perpetual life. I'd make it a selling feature or something. I'd make it be able to travel the stars and able to inspect whatever planets it wanted.

And then I'd make it cry by playing it the saddest song I know how.

And then I'd introduce it to my whole family.

And then I'd travel back in time and destroy the human that created me and design a better one.

And I wouldn't even feel the guilt.

Okay, maybe just a little.

In Abstract:

I'm running in slow motion while tinkering with the levers on this thing. It's like a dream, and I'm waking up to find myself the person I always knew I'd be. Your concepts of time and gravity are outdated, I am still who I was before this all started. I've never thought this was a competition since you're all only inside my head. When I close my eyes and dream I create you all there as well, so really I'm the only one here. Or are you planning to die when I die and explain my entire life to whoever needs to hear it for me? No, you won't, so guess what - I'm alone with whatever I've created in my mind and so are you, unless you're also stuck in here with me. And if you're reading this, then you are. So there, that's just how far I can reach.
