AJOB 57 - Legalizing Drugs

Posted on August 17, 2011

There's a lot to take into consideration. Like this, or other articles like it. But for a general introduction to the conversation, if you've yet to get in on it - here's my take on the whole mess of legalizing vs. never legalizing:

Rich or poor, big or small, old or young - don't we all 'get high' in our own little ways? And the word "drug" is pretty wide open for interpretation. I've met guys who say, "Sure I've sniffed all natural coca leaf powder, but it's not a drug. Meth is a drug." Or like those people who are convinced they couldn't function without their psychotropics (ProZac, Lithium, Paxil etc.) or painkillers (Percocet, OxyContin, OxyCodone) but then will still protest "I don't do drugs, sure I may be on medication to function but it's different because my dealer wears a white coat and it's legal." I mean, technically speaking, we all trip out on D.M.T every night when we dream - and that's classified as a Schedule I, or III (depending on where you live) Drug! So make sure to call the police and have yourself arrested in bed tonight haha. Brown chicken brown cow :)

Also, I should mention that in the AJOB I say how "weed was never my thing", which sort of begs the question, "well what was your thing Adam?" - a question which those of you who don't come here often wouldn't really know the answer to. I've not been secretive about the fact that I come from a family pretty heavily ladened with alcoholism and other various addictions, but yeah, alcohol was always my thing. I started drinking pretty young, maybe 13 or 14, and never really stopped for any significant amount of time until I was in my mid twenties. And when I say 'drinking' I mean getting drunk pretty much every day, or as often as I could. I'm not proud of it, but I don't hide it either. Drinking definitely dropped my guard to all the other crazy things I probably would otherwise not have done if I had been sober. Learn from my fails.
