♪ So Long Twenties

Please forgive some of the rough pitch while I'm singing, you and me both are listening to me play this for the first time right here. I'll practice it a lot more before I ever record it professionally. I was going to call it "You're Not My Girl/I'm Not Your Man", or "Big Ghosts In Small Haunted Towns", but the first two ideas were taken and the latter one is a song title I scribbled down to use someday, but it doesn't really fit for this one so I decided to go with one of the themes in the song for the title. The lyrics sort of personify my last decade as a girl who I'm telling the chorus to. My 30th birthday is coming up in October. It's so deep it's meaningless :)

Here's more recent versions. Actually, I plan on recording this myself with drums, bass and piano. Soon.

If my whole life had lead up to this point
I'd want it to be honest

I'd let go of falsehood and all the little lies
between us
I would tell you the truth from a dull face for life
you're not made of ceramic my darling
you'll survive

You're not my girl
I'm not your man
let's stop over romanticizing the past
let's let go of the plans that you thought we had made
what's 29 years of a life anyway?

Tired and alone
and in town
I know you're not the answer at all
even if you were around
Will I look back in 10 years on my 30's and say
I hope that my 40's dear God aren't the same?

You're not my girl
I'm not your man
let's stop over romanticizing the past
let's let go of the plans that you thought we had made
what's 29 years of a life anyway?
Those memories of us just go to the grave
I'm sorry for wasting your time
I'd say
